PRODUCTION STATEMENT
“36 Husbands is our 7th feature film. After 30 years of touring the globe, we've met thousands of wonderfully talented people. For each film, we put out the call to friends worldwide and form an Artist Collective. For 36 Husbands around 300 creative people from local communities took part. Inspired by this type of "art created by artists", locations were donated and cast & crew were invited into people's homes. The 4 main actors travelled the world with BBG, doubling as crew when they weren't on screen. Stylistically, 36 Husbands is a comic escapade with a slight 60's genre vibe - with romance, music, mysticism, Kung Fu and social commentary thrown in. We wanted music to help drive this genre-blending movie. Whenever Bright Blue Gorilla appears in the film (as characters on a musical TV show) it adds a comic element, commenting on the world condition and moving the story forward. As songwriters we wanted a catchy theme song to boost the energy of the film. We're happy that "Love Potion Number 36" is getting good response in the music world - as well as doing its job in the film!” - Bright Blue Gorilla
SYNOPSIS
Krista, top spy and Kung Fu master, puts her extraordinary powers in action on her quest to slow down the march towards World War III. Together with her Kung Fu disciples, Gina and Nola, (and Frankie, a spy on-loan from MI6) they fight and love their way across the world leaving a trail of broken hearts and sabotaged plans. Spies and evil-doers all tune-in to the Bright Blue Gorilla TV show. Why do they watch? Is it the music, the comedy?
