PRODUCTION STATEMENT

What does the former Attorney General of California really embody? Is she a hope? Or is she just a shooting star, a mirage or the X factor? Yet some see in her, on the eve of a new election, a providential woman who will change America and consequently the world... This will be Memento's fourth collaboration with director Marjolaine Grappe. This will be the third film to tell an American story. Marjolaine Grappe studied and worked as a correspondent in the United States, and for family reasons now divides her time between San Francisco and Paris.

The first film we made together about Uncle Sam's country tells the story of how the US army enlists disadvantaged students into its ranks. "America's Little Soldiers" was a Figra finalist in 2018. The second film tells the story of the trial that never took place of the police officer who arrested Eric Garner in NYC. Eric Garner lost his life during the arrest, uttering a final cry: "I can't breathe", which became the rallying cry of the African-American community suffocated by discrimination. "The Color of Justice" was selected in official competition at the CPHDOC in Copenhagen and won several awards. The third film we worked on was an unforgettable experience, both for the difficulties Marjolaine Grappe had to overcome to direct it, and for us to produce it. "Les hommes du dictateur" won her the Prix Albert Londres and more than a dozen international awards.

With “Kamala Harris: Breaking Barriers”, a fascinating film, discover who this woman with an extraordinary background is. A determined outsider, and a political life unlike any other. Kamala Harris's rise to vice-president of the world's leading power is no accident. This film tells the incredible story of a person who has already made history. A romantic destiny at the service of a complex political system where kings and queens are made to serve specific causes or doctrines. A star who will have to confront an explosive national reality, and who may well become, on November 4, the first woman president of the United States.
