PRODUCTION STATEMENT
Envisioned as the first post-war Bosnian film devoid of war themes, "A Perfect Love Story" dives into a complex relationship between a man and a woman from different cultural backgrounds. At pivotal points in their individual and shared lives, they grapple with self-discovery and their bond. Their journey unfolds from gloomy Sarajevo to sunny Herzegovina and utopian Croatia, seeking clarity.
Drawing stylistic and thematic inspiration from Godard's Nouvelle Vague, the film explores profound human connections. Produced on a very low budget, the project thrived thanks to the dedication of a pro bono cast and crew and an Indiegogo campaign that covered accommodation and travel expenses. Filming took place across both summer and winter, capturing the contrasting seasons of their emotional voyage.
SYNOPSIS
In the grey city of Sarajevo, an exiled French journalist and an aspiring young artist take their first steps into a marginal existence. They leave the city with their pockets full of the loot from a bank robbery, and search the Bosnian countryside or the Croatian sea for the keys to independence and a creative life, never knowing if they will succeed, lose everything, stay together, split up…
