PRODUCTION STATEMENT

What goes through an athlete's mind when he faces extreme conditions? How do you prepare your body for deadly temperatures? How do you train your mind to overcome that pernicious unknown - the cold - that makes you lose all your bearings? And what do you do when it's your head that can't keep up? And what drives man to push back his limits, even at the risk of his life?

For two years, and on several continents, the ALMO Film team has tried to answer those questions by following Nice-based athlete Arthur Guérin-Boëri, freediving prodigy and the most successful Frenchman in his discipline, as he prepared physically and mentally to set two new records in dynamic freediving.

SYNOPSIS

Arthur Guérin-Boëri, a French athlete multiple world champion in dynamic apnea, decides to leave the warmth of his pool and plunge into the frozen waters of a Finnish lake to set a new record.
