PRODUCTION STATEMENT

Fantastic thrillers are not easy to find except in Hollywood… House of Time was born from a desire to offer something different to the French public. Finding the funding was an adventure but co-producers and the Poitou-Charentes region joined the project and the other 50% came from private equity funds. 

The film was shot on location at Saint-Maigrin, in a beautiful mansion from the 17th century that kept its historic atmosphere and required little work for set decoration – except the kitchen, which had to be entirely recreated in the basement to feet with early 19th century aesthetics. 

We wanted to break the standards and from constraints arose creativity, from ordeals arose solidarity. We were incredibly lucky throughout the production, be it a dedicated, creative and effective team or an essential technical partner (Didier Diaz from Transpalux). The shooting atmosphere was good-natured, with filled control rooms and comradeship. 

SYNOPSIS

Robert d'Eglantine, a specialist in quantum physics, invites five of his friends to spend a week-end in his castle, lost in the woods. He explains to them that he studied secret documents on Nazi scientific research during World War II. According to his calculations, at 11.37pm, a rift will open in the space-time continuum and will send them back seventy years to May 1944, during the German occupation of France… Real time travel or devilish game meticulously crafted?
